Euripos

a strait in the Aegean Sea, dividing the central part of the island of Evvoia from the mainland of Greece. It is approximately 8 km long and has a length of 40 m at its narrowest point, where it is crossed by a bridge. The strait has strong tidal currents. The seaport of Khalkis (Chalcis) is situated on the Evvoian side of the strait.
