Capnocytophaga sputigena

Capnocytophaga sputigena

A motile, non-flagellated gram-negative bacillus which is tapered at one and rounded at the other. It is part of the normal oral flora of dogs. It is epidemiologically similar to but less virulent than Capnocytophaga canimorsus. It has been linked to periodontal disease, and may cause multi-drug resistance and sepsis.
