Corrib
(Lough Corrib), a lake in western Ireland. Area, 176 sq km; depth, up to 10 m. The lake’s basin is of karst origin and was deepened by an ancient glacier. The banks are mostly low, but steep and high in the west and northwest; there are approximately 300 islands in the lake. Lough Corrib is drained by the Corrib River into Galway Bay of the Atlantic Ocean.
