Location:In Panama City Beach just west of the Phillips Inlet bridge on the Bay and Walton county line.
Facilities:Beaches, nature trails, interpretive exhibits, picnic tables, visitor center.
Activities:Fishing (in designated areas), swimming, hiking. Boatingopportunities exist at the park, but there is no public boat ramp,canoe launch facilities, or tie-ups, and caution is advised to anyboater not familiar with these waters. It is recommended that boatingbe limited to smaller craft such as canoes, kayaks, John Boats, pontoonboats, or bass boats.
Special Features:Park is bordered on three sides by the Gulf of Mexico and Lake Powell,one of the largest coastal dune lakes in Florida. (Coastal dune lakesare rare worldwide, and in the US are found only along the Gulf Coast.)Between 1945 and 1987, Camp Helen was a company resort for employees ofan Alabama textile mill, and some of those buildings are now beingrestored.
