forward-arming-and-refueling point

forward-arming-and-refueling point (FARP)

A temporary facility, organized, equipped, and deployed by an aviation commander to provide fuel and ammunition necessary for the employment of aviation maneuver units in combat. It is normally located in the main battle area closer to the area of operation than the aviation unit's combat service area. The FARPs permit combat aircraft and helicopters to refuel rapidly and rearm simultaneously. The responsibility for organizing the FARP may be delegated to the surface force commander.
