Lidorenko, Nikolai Stepanovich

 

Born Apr. 2 (15), 1916, in Kursk. Soviet scientist in electrical and power engineering; corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1966). Hero of Socialist Labor (1971). Member of the CPSU since 1944.

Lidorenko graduated from the Novocherkassk Polytechnic Institute in 1940. In 1950 he became the director of the All-Union Scientific Research Institute of Current Sources. In 1963 he became a professor, and in 1965 a subdepartment head, at the Moscow Physicotechnical Institute. His main work deals with scientific and engineering problems of conversion of energy and with the design of physical models of information. He has been awarded the Lenin Prize (1960), three Orders of Lenin, three other orders, and medals.
