Eisenhart, Luther Pfahler

(1876–1965) mathematician; born in York, Pa. Teaching at Princeton his entire career (1923–45), he focused largely on two aspects of differential geometry—surfaces (deformations, systems), and after 1921 on generalization of Riemannian geometry. A prolific author of textbooks, he also wrote on historical topics.
