Cormophytes plants that have a stem and leaves—the majority of mosses and all pteridophytes and seed plants. Some-times the name “cormophytes” is applied to plants that, in addition to a stem and leaves, also have a root; by this definition mosses are excluded from the group. Cormophytes originated in the process of evolutionary development of thallophytes, whose bodies are not differentiated into stem and leaves. |
