Zaimovskii, Aleksandr Semenovich
Born Sept. 26 (Oct. 9), 1905, in Odessa. Soviet scientist in physical metallurgy, metal technology, and the technology of alloys with special physical properties. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1958). Became a member of the CPSU in 1945. Graduate of the Moscow Mining Academy (1928).
Zaimovskii’s main contributions concern development of new alloys which are now widely used in engineering applications. He received the State Prize of the USSR (1946, 1949, 1951, 1953) and the Lenin Prize (1962). He has been awarded two Orders of Lenin, three other orders, and medals.
