year and a day historically, in English criminal law, an accused could not be convicted of murder if the victim survived for more than a year a day, but that rule was repealed. Instead the consent of the Attorney General is required if the victim dies over three years after the injury or if the accused has been previously convicted of an offence for the original injury. |
