simultaneous motion chart

simultaneous motion chart (SIMO chart)

a chart used in METHOD STUDY to record a worker's rapid hand movements in performing work tasks. The work elements involved are often identified using slowed down video recordings or films and presented in chart form using THERBLIG symbols. SIMO charts can be used to identify non-productive pauses or awkward hand motions caused by poor workplace layout or badly designed tools. See WORK MEASUREMENT.
