Quality and outcomes framework target. A generic term for objective annual targets for care improvements by GPs in the UK. QOF targets do not necessarily represent the latest National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE) or evidence-based guidelines, and thus individual practices may work towards different targets. Secondary prevention of coronary heart disease
Indicator—CHD register—Target % for payments
% BP recorded—past 15 months—40–90%
% BP < 150/90 or less—40–70%
% Record of total cholesterol—past 15 months—40–90%
% Total cholesterol—5 or less—40–70%
% On aspirin or alternative, or C/I—40–90%
% Treated with beta-blocker or C/I—40–60%
% With history of MI (pos-2003)—on ACE or ACE II—40–80%
% Having flu vaccine—40–90%
The higher the %, the more points achieved; each point has a monetary value to the GP practice.
