silique[si′lēk] (botany) A silicle-like capsule, but usually at least four times as long as it is wide, which opens by sutures at either margin and has parietal placentation. Silique the dry psuedo-bilocular paracarpous fruit of most plants of the family Cruciferae. A silique is formed from two carpels and is usually dehiscent by two valves from the base to the apex.
