pulse-coded scanning beam pulse-coded scanning beam[′pəls ¦kōd·əd ′skan·iŋ ‚bēm] (navigation) A radio or radar beam which is swept over a sector of space and is accompanied by a repeated pattern of pulses that is varied to indicate the position of the beam in space.
