transfer constant transfer constant[′tranz·fər ‚kän·stənt] (engineering) A transducer rating, equal to one-half the natural logarithm of the complex ratio of the product of the voltage and current entering a transducer to that leaving the transducer when the latter is terminated in its image impedance; alternatively, the product may be that of force and velocity or pressure and volume velocity; the real part of the transfer constant is the image attenuation constant, and the imaginary part is the image phase constant. Also known as transfer factor. |
