Sviataia Anna Trough
Sviataia Anna Trough
a trenchlike depression between the Barents and Kara seas, southeast of the Franz Josef Land. The length of the trough is approximately 600 km; depths range to 500–600 m in the north and 300–400 m in the south. The relief at the bottom of the trough becomes lower as Novaia Zemlia is approached. In the south the trough is separated from the Vostochno-Novozemel’skii Trough by the Brusilov Rise. The Sviataia Anna Trough was named for the ship used by G. L. Brusilov in his last expedition.
