ryanodine receptor 3

ryanodine receptor 3

A membrane receptor encoded by RYR3 on chromosome 15q14-q15, which is an intracellular Ca2+ release channel responsible for releasing Ca2+ from intracellular stores after transduction of a wide range extracellular stimuli. RYR3 is responsible for communication between transverse tubules (T-tubules) and sarcoplasmic reticulum (SR), resulting in skeletal muscle contraction triggered by Ca2+ release from SR following T-tubule depolarisation.
