Size: 5,065 acres.
Established: Established on December 27, 1894; transferred from War Department on August 10, 1933.
Location:110 miles east of Memphis, Tennessee. Accessible from I-40 via TN 22 south and from Memphis along TN 57 east and TN 22 north.
Facilities:Picnic area, rest rooms (é), bicycle trail, visitor center (é), museum/exhibit, self-guided tour/trail. Entrance fee required.
Activities:Auto touring, hiking, bicycling, ranger programs, living history demonstrations.
Special Features:The bitter battle fought here April 6-7, 1862, prepared the way for Major General U.S. Grant's successful siege of Vicksburg. Besides preserving the site of the battle inTennessee, park commemorates the subsequent siege, battle, andoccupation of the key railroad junction at nearby Corinth, Mississippi. Well-preserved prehistoric Indian mounds overlook the river. Shiloh (Pittsburg Landing) National Cemetery adjoins the park.
