(σ), a physical constant appearing in the Stefan-Boltzmann law, which states that the energy radiated by a blackbody is proportional to the fourth power of the body’s absolute temperature: σ = (5.67032 ± 0.00071) × 10–8 watt/(m2.°K4) = (5.67032 ± 0.00071) × 10–5 erg/(sec-cm2.°K4).
