(Pleuragramma antarcticum), a fish of the family Nototheniidae. The body length reaches 20 cm. The coloration of the sides and abdomen is silvery. The mouth is superior. The caudal fin is notched. The scales are large, thin, and easily shed. The antarctic sidestripe, a pelagic fish, is distributed throughout the antarctic except for the northernmost regions. It is absent from the shores of South Georgia Island and the subantarctic islands. The fish feeds on krill. It is one of the most numerous fishes in high-latitude antarctic waters.
