Saint-Michel DHaute Provence Observatory

an astronomical institute under the direction of the National Center for Scientific Research of France. Established in 1936, it is located in Saint-Michel, 100 km north of Marseille in Haute Provence. Its principal instruments are reflectors with mirror diameters of 193, 152, 120, 81, and 60 cm; 90-cm and 32-cm Schmidt cameras; and 15-cm and 40-cm refractors. The observatory conducts work on the study of stars, star clusters, the interstellar medium, nebulae, and planets.
