Trollheimen

Trollheimen

a mountainous region in Norway, between the Dovrefjell on the south and the Trondheimsfjorden on the north. The Trollheimen is a craggy highland that rises to an elevation of 1,668 m (the Snota); the mountains have steep slopes and are composed of quartzites, gneisses, and granites. Alpine tundras with lichens and mosses predominate, but coniferous forests are found on the northern and northwestern slopes. There are snow-fields in the mountains, and avalanches occur. Tourist excursions are conducted in the Trollheimen.
