uncoupled training uncoupled training A term of art referring to a format for training junior doctors in the UK, in which the core training years are separated (uncoupled) from the higher specialty training years. In the specialties with uncoupled training, trainees are appointed to a 1-, 2- or 3-year programme depending on the level and specialty. Trainees appointed at Core Training year 1 (CT1) in Core Psychiatry Training would expect to receive a 3-year contract and then have to compete in open competition for an ST4 post. |
