Sudzha

a city and administrative center of Sudzha Raion, Kursk Oblast, RSFSR. Sudzha is situated on the right bank of the Sudzha River (Dnieper River basin), 3 km from the Sudzha railroad station on the L’gov-Gotnia line. It has plants producing tractor subassemblies, building materials, and carpets. Food-industry enterprises include a butter factory, a meat-packing and poultry-processing combine, a cannery, and a groats-processing plant. There is also a grain elevator in the city. Educational institutions include a veterinary technicum and a music school. Founded in the 17th century, Sudzha was designated a city in 1664.
