Patients Charter Waiting Time Guarantee

Patients Charter Waiting Time Guarantee

An NHS term which stipulates that inpatients, day cases and outpatients who are available for treatment are guaranteed to be seen within a given time period, depending on the procedure. Patients who are not available, or who do not take offered appointments or admission dates for various reasons, may lose their guarantee and receive a Waiting Time Guarantee Exception Code or be placed on the Deferred Admission Waiting List, and have an actual waiting time in excess of the guaranteed waiting time threshold.
