RAMP3

A gene on chromosome 7p13-p12 that encodes one of the RAMP (receptor [calcitonin] activity modifying protein) family of single-transmembrane-domain proteins, which are type-I transmembrane proteins needed to transport calcitonin-receptor-like receptor (CRLR) to the plasma membrane. CRLR can function as either a calcitonin-gene-related peptide (CGRP) receptor or an adrenomedullin receptor, depending on the expressed RAMP; in the presence of RAMP3, CRLR acts as an adrenomedullin-2 receptor.
