pa-ping pa-ping A condition seen in mainland China, which is similar to hypokalaemic periodic paralysis, and characterised by periodic attacks of truncal and limb paralysis; it was linked to barium salt exposure, resulting in hypokalemia due to potassium (K+) channel blocking in skeletal muscle, preventing the flow of K+ from the intracellular to the extracellular space. |
