Radioisotope Rocket Engine

a reaction engine in which energy from radio isotope decay is used to heat a working substance or in which the decay products themselves constitute the working substance. These engines are in the research stage. They may find applications in spacecraft in combination with a radioisotope thermoelectric generator.
