Paláikastro
Paláikastro
(also Palaiokastron), an ancient settlement on the eastern coast of the island of Crete. It was primarily excavated in the early 20th century.
The cultural layers of Paláikastro contain important remains from the period of the flowering of the Cretan-Mycenaean culture and from earlier times. A large necropolis was located next to the settlement. The ruins of an ancient Greek temple of Zeus of Dicte still remain.
