Tepexpan

Tepexpan

(Santa Cruz Tepexpan), a settlement in central Mexico. In 1947 the skeleton of a tall human, similar in anthropological characteristics to the Indians of present-day Mexico, was found near Tepexpan in lacustrine sediment at a depth of 4 m. The remains date to 8000–10,000 B.C. Fossilized bones of an elephant, horse, and giant sloths have been found at the same site.
