Skidmore, Louis

(1897–1962)Founded Skidmore, Owings and Merrill (SOM) in Chicago in 1936, which was organized on teamwork and used other ideas incorporated from business practice. SOM won fame for the Lever House in NYC (1951). Later work included the John Hancock Center, Chicago, IL (1968); projects in Saudi Arabia (1982) and the Canary Wharf developments in London, England (1990).
