LMX1A LMX1A A gene on chromosome 1q24.1 that encodes a homeodomain protein that binds an A/T-rich sequence in the insulin promoter and stimulates transcription of insulin. LMX1A activates transcription by binding to an A/T-rich sequence—the FLAT element—in the insulin gene promoter; it is involved in the development of the roof plate and specifies dorsal cell fates in the CNS and developing vertebrae. |
