magnetic stimulation
magnetic stimulation
A noninvasive method for stimulating the brain and nerves, using a high-current magnetic pulse passed through a coil of wire. The pain of electrical stimulation is related to tissue impedance, which is relatively high in skin, bone and subcutaneous tissue; the energy required to stimulate nerves is high enough to activate pain receptors. In contrast to noninvasive electrical stimulation of the nerves, MS is not painful, and may be applicable in injuries with nerve damage.
