At specific dosages they lower the intraocular pressure (IOP), supposedly by increasing the outflow of aqueous humour via the uveoscleral pathway. Common agents include latanoprost, travoprost, bimatoprost (a synthetic prostamide structurally related to prostaglandin) and unoprostone isopropyl. Bimatoprost reduces IOP by increasing the uveoscleral outflow as well as the trabecular outflow. |
