Organ Genus

the generic name of disconnected parts, or organs, of fossil plants or of different forms that any one organ may take. The relationship between isolated parts of fossil plants is usually unknown; homotypic organs often belong to different plants. An organ genus presumably reflects natural relationship to a greater degree than does a form genus, which may embrace externally similar parts of plants regardless of their kinship.
