(noi'shtrā`lĭts), city (1994 pop. 25,194), Mecklenburg–West Pomerania, N Germany. It is a transportation center and has metalworks, publishing houses, and wood mills. Neustrelitz was founded (1733) as the capital of Mecklenburg-Strelitz after the earlier ducal residence at nearby Strelitz had burned down (1712).Neustrelitz
