Landolt, Hans Heinrich
Born Dec. 5, 1831, in Zürich; died Mar. 15, 1910, in Berlin. German physical chemist. Member of the Berlin Academy of Sciences (1881).
Landolt was a professor of physical chemistry in Bonn, Aachen, and Berlin between 1857 and 1905. He studied the interrelations between the composition, structure, and optical properties of organic compounds. Landolt collaborated with the German physicist R. Börnstein on the compilation of the well-known Physikalische-chemischen Tabellen, which were published in 1883 (reprinted under the title Zahlenwerte und Funktionen aus Physik, Chemie, Astronomie, Geophysik, Tech-nik).
