单词 | metamorphic technique |
释义 | metamorphic techniquemetamorphic techniquemetamorphic techniquemetamorphic techniqueFringe medicineA technique developed in the 1960s by a British naturopath, Robert St John, as an extension of reflexology. The method is based on the belief that a person’s physical and psychological profiles develop in utero, and hinges on massaging specific parts of the foot, hand, head and ear, with the intent of loosening prenatal patterns. The specific goal of the technique is to ameliorate the effects of prenatal imprints or fears, which are believed to cause behaviours and emotional stresses that result in poor health. Metamorphic therapists view themselves as catalysts that connect a client with his or her own intrinsic healing ability (termed “innate intelligence”), freeing the “life forces” from genetic and karmic influences. The technique is allegedly beneficial for chronic conditions, including physical or mental disabilities (e.g., Down syndrome and autism). |
