Novgorodka
the name of a Muscovite silver coin (den’ga) first minted in the late 15th century and having the weight of a Novgorodian den’ga. After the reform of 1534, the name novgorodka was given to a new silver coin, the silver kopek, which bore the impression of a horseman with a lance (kop’e). The coin contained 0.68 g of silver initially and 0.28 g at the end of the 17th century. The term novgorodka was gradually supplanted by kopeika (kopek).
