Special Features:From 1943 to 1966, this 19th century townhouse served as headquarters for the National Council of Negro Women, founded by educator and activist Mary McLeod Bethune. Site also commemorates McLeod Bethune's leadership in black women's rights movements from 1943 to 1949. She was also the founder of Bethune-Cookman College in Florida.
