Location:West off US 1 south of Presque Isle.
Facilities:Campsites, showerhouse, kitchen shelter, picnic tables, trails, beach,bathhouse, canoe and paddleboat rentals (in summer), boat launch (é). Open May 15-October 15.
Activities:Camping, swimming, boating, canoeing, fishing, hiking, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling.
Special Features:Popular activities at Maine’s first state park include hiking on Quaggy Jo Mountain and trout fishing on Echo Lake. The park’s natural areas are typical of northern Maine, consisting of spruce, fir, beech, and maple along with younger stands of poplar, birch, and other hardwoods. In low swampy areas, dense stands of cedar can be found.
