Krasnoperekopsk

 

a city (settlement until 1966), administrative center of Krasnoperekopsk Raion, Crimean Oblast, Ukrainian SSR. Located on the Perekop Isthmus, on the shore of Lake Staroe. It has a railroad station (Piatiozernaia) on the Dzhankoi-Kherson line. Population, 15,800 (1972).

Krasnoperekopsk is the site of a chemical plant that uses raw materials from Sivash Lake and a soda plant (under construetion, 1973). It also has enterprises of the food industry (a juice plant, a winery, a cannery, and a dairy) and a plant producing reinforced-concrete items. There is a folk museum in Krasnoperekopsk.
