(ad'i-pō'kēnz) Autocrine and paracrine factors released from human adipose tissue, in particular the visceral depots; including cytokines, acute phase reactants, growth factors, and other inflammatory mediators. Many are involved in the pathogenesis of hypertension, insulin resistance, and atherosclerosis.
