Location:On the island of Kodiak, off the coast of southwestern Alaska.
Facilities:Visitor center, cabins.
Activities:Camping, boating, canoeing, rafting, fishing, hiking, hunting, educational programs.
Special Features:Refuge encompasses about two-thirds of Kodiak Island. In addition, the refuge includes a 50,000-acre portion of Afognak Island to the north of Kodiak Island.
Habitats: 1.932 million acres of lakes, marshes, bogs, and meadows.
Access: Unlimited except by weather. Kodiak Island is served by commercial flights and Alaska State Ferry.
Wild life: Brown bear, red fox, river otter, short-tailed weasel, little brown bat, tundra vole, eagle, mountain goats, Roosevelt elk, and salmon.
