Nalichnik
Nalichnik
a decorative window frame, usually consisting of a pediment, two vertical elements (frequently columns or pilasters), and a sill.
In wooden architecture, the nalichnik is often decorated with sumptuous carving, yet at the same time it serves the functional purpose of covering the crack between the wall and the window. The term nalichnik is applied primarily to Russian architecture of the 15th to the early 18th century. In Russian architecture, the frame of a doorway is sometimes called a nalichnik.
