Name Origin: For Osceola (c. 1804-38), Seminole leader during the early years of the Second Seminole War (1835-42). Name is from Creek asi-yahola 'black drink cry,' and refers to a ceremonial drink made from leaves of the yaupon bush (Ilex vomitoria).
