Lepiota
Lepiota a genus of mushrooms of subclass Hymenomy-cetes, the best known of which are L. procera (the parasol mushroom), which reaches 50 cm in height and has a scaly brownish cap, and L. excoriata, which reaches 10 cm in height and has a white or light scaled cap. Both species are found in the summer in cleared areas, fields, and thin growth, but the second is more often found in meadows and steppes. Young Lepiota are edible. lepiota
