Whether Moltar is a human mutant or an alien is unknown, but as a molten man he emits blistering temperatures quelled only by his containment suit. After several Space Ghost skirmishes Moltar was incarcerated on Ghost Planet, but he was paroled when the hero changed careers to become the celebrity-interviewing host of the cable comedy Space Ghost: Coast to Coast (1994–2004), a spoof mixing animation and live action. Moltar, forced into indentured servitude as the show's inattentive director voiced by C. Martin Croker, was usually seen inside the studio's control room, where he preferred watching CHiPs reruns over performing his directorial tasks. Moltar appeared as a Coast to Coast action figure in the early 2000s.
