Molodogvardeisk
(until 1961, the settlement of Molodogvardeiskii), a city in Voroshilovgrad Oblast, Ukrainian SSR, 3 km from the Semeikino-Novoe railroad way station on the Kondrashevskaia-Dolzhanskaia line. Population, 24,400 (1973). Coal is mined at the Talovskaia, Orekhovskaia, and Fiftieth Anniversary of the USSR mines. The city has an ore-dressing plant. The first line of the Molodogvardeiskaia mine was put into operation in 1971. Molodogvardeisk is named in honor of the Young Guard (Molodaia Gvardiia) heroes of the Krasnodon area.
