Medical Royal Colleges

The professional Colleges in the UK which represent GPs (Royal College of General Practitioners) and specialists (consultants)—e.g., Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, Royal College of Pathologists, Royal College of Surgeons, etc. The Royal Colleges are responsible for training of junior doctors, conducting specialty examinations and awarding Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT). The Royal Colleges are also responsible for education and research in their field, and for advising Government, the public, and professional peers on matters related to the College’s expertise. The 18 Royal Colleges in the UK, Irish Colleges and Faculty of Dental Surgery are represented at the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges.
